Summer Movies


Take your community on an adventure with a community scavenger hunt or poker run. Bring them all back together for awards and refreshments and show Up, The Goonies, Land of the Lost, The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep or Where the Wild Things Are.

Father’s Day

Host a cook-out and celebrate Dad! He’ll appreciate fun ‘guy’ movies like Daddy Day Care, For the Love of the Game, The Natural, Speed Racer and others.


Chicken Little, Toy Story and Flight of the Navigator will take children on a fascinating space adventure. Make moon pies and rock candy while talking to them about the first walk on the moon, our solar system and other space facts.


Children will go wild with jungle-themed movies like Zookeeper, The Wild and Curious George. Serve refreshments like jungle juice (fruit flavored drink) and other fun foods like trees (broccoli), snake eggs (grapes) and dried bugs (dried fruits).

Backyard Fun/Farm

Invite local farmers to bring their animals for a barnyard petting zoo. Create a carnival atmosphere complete with a picnic and/or carnival foods. End the evening with exciting family-friendly films like The Wild, March of the Penguins and Happy Feet 2.

Starry Nights

Invite your community to come dressed as their favorite prince or princess. Make crowns out of construction paper and decorate with glitter and other craft materials. Show related movies such as Enchanted, The Princess Diaries and The Princess and the Frog.


Hairspray, Les Miserables, High School Musical 2 and Mamma Mia! will set the scene for a night full of movies and music. Ask guests to come dressed as their favorite musical character.


Aaargh, matey! Go on a pirates adventure with movies from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series, Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything: A Veggie Tales Movie, Hook, Goonies or Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Add excitement to your event with a treasure hunt, boat races or cardboard regatta.
